GID and GD

GID (Gender Identity Disorder) is an individual experience, meaning different transgender individuals experience their gender in different ways. One common symptom some transgender individuals experience is GD (Gender Dysphoria), which is the feeling of discomfort in ones biological body. It should be noted that not all transgender individuals experience dysphoria; some transgender individuals may go their entire life without experiencing any kind of GD and may in fact experience GE (Gender Euphoria), this does not make them any less valid, they are still transgender.

GD can be experienced  in different ways by different individuals; I experience GD in the form of a sick feeling when I see my body in the mirror, depression when seeing my AFAB features (e.g. when not binding), anxiety that people will not see my identity as valid (as Maverique is not a mainstream gender identity), panic attacks when I don't feel I am dressing neutrally enough, and shame when seeing my true body shape. This is a personal and private experience, many people never let those closest to them know what they are feeling on the inside and go through this process alone. I am lucky enough to have an open and loving family who have always encouraged me to be my true self, so I can talk to them open and honestly about how I'm feeling; I am also lucky enough to be in a loving relationship with mutual trust and respect - my partner is also transgender so I can talk to them openly and honestly about how I am feeling too, and they understand as they are experiencing GD too, so we can advise and help each other.
